Expert Children’s Dental Care

Fun and friendly children’s dentistry, fostering healthy smiles for life at QV Dental.

At QV Dental, we provide gentle and comprehensive children’s dentistry focused on supporting healthy development, early prevention, and positive lifelong dental habits. Our approach is designed to ensure children feel comfortable and confident at every stage of their dental journey.

Early Dental Care for Children

Children’s dentistry plays an important role in monitoring oral development from an early age. Regular dental visits help us track the growth of teeth and jaws, identify concerns early, and provide guidance to support healthy outcomes.

We aim to create a positive introduction to dentistry so children become familiar with routine dental care in a calm and supportive environment.

Free Dental for Kids*

Eligible children aged 0 to 17 years can claim up to $1,158* in basic dental services over two calendar years under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). Dental services covered include check-ups and cleans, x-rays, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions.

*Treatment is free when services covered by the Child Dental Benefits Schedule are bulk billed by participating practitioners for treatments provided to eligible patients.

Preventative Dental Care

Preventative care is central to maintaining long-term oral health. Regular check-ups allow early detection of decay, monitoring of tooth development, and timely intervention where required.

We also support parents with practical advice around brushing routines, diet, and daily oral hygiene habits to help maintain results between visits.

What to Expect at a Children’s Appointment

A child’s visit is tailored to their age and comfort level, and may include:

• Gentle dental examination

• Cleaning to remove plaque and build-up

• Fluoride treatment to help strengthen teeth

• Fissure sealants where appropriate

• Advice and guidance for parents on at-home care

Our focus is on prevention, education, and ensuring each visit is a positive experience.

We provide care and guidance for a range of common childhood issues, including:

• Tooth decay prevention and early management

• Teething and eruption patterns

• Thumb sucking and dummy habits

• Dental trauma and minor injuries

• Monitoring bite and jaw development

Early management helps reduce the need for more complex treatment later in life.

When Should Children First Visit the Dentist?

We recommend children visit the dentist when their first teeth appear, or by around one year of age. Early visits allow us to establish a dental home and provide preventative care from the beginning.

Working with Parents

Parents play a key role in supporting children’s oral health. We work closely with families to provide clear advice, ongoing support, and practical strategies to help children maintain healthy smiles as they grow.
